Shifting Sand

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NIV: “Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith; be courageous, be strong. Do everything in love.”

GIGS Journal Entry: Often, I feel I am on sand, that shifts when I walk. Or even when I stop, I need to wait while my feet sink to a holding spot. I feel that God’s word is that solid ground under the shifting sand. Keeping that word in my mind each day, helps that solid ground to be closer to the surface.

Then a storm hits and it’s harder to walk and find a foot hold. As I try to stand still the storm pushes and pulls me in all directions. I feel it knocking me off the solid ground. That’s when I must be courageous and stand firm. As I am pushed or pulled, do I react in patience and accepting? Or do I quickly lose patience and am upset my life was altered, like the shifting sand?

“Do everything in love,” is a great line to remember when I am pushed off course.

Prayer: Thank you lord for being that solid ground, especially when I am walking through sifting sand. Keep me focused on your love so that I can be courageous when the storm rages on.

Reflection: When you are in the midst of a storm do you feel God's love surround you? How can you focus on his solid ground beneath your feet?
