Makes My Soul Happy

As I read the sign, “Do what makes your soul happy,” a memory just came flooding back. I was first scrapbooking in 1997, when my girls were 4, 6 and 7 years old. I would sit at the dining room table and scrapbook as the girls played outside in the sandbox next to the open dining room window. As you would expect my girls would interrupt me many times. Sometimes I could answer them through the open window. Other times, I would have to walk through the kitchen, out the patio door around the house to handle their issues.

Later that day, as I was folding clothes and the girls were fighting. My task was once again interrupted. I quickly lost my patience without the ability to fold even one load of clothes in peace.

That’s when I realized I hadn’t lost my patience when I was scrapbooking. Truly when I was scrapbooking I was making my soul happy. Folding clothes not so much.

What do you do to feed your soul?
