Snow Day

They announced there is “No School!” Now days that announcement comes through an email or social media. When you were a kid, you may have gathered around the TV to watch the bottom of the screen to see if your school was closed. In my day, we had to listen to the radio as they read the names of the school closing. However, it doesn’t matter how we hear of it. One thing has continued through time.

The kids are thrilled and excited to have no school. They start jumping for joy or heading back to bed (or stay in bed). The parents are overwhelmed and quickly figuring out how to adjust their day.

As an overwhelmed Mom you are about to begin another Snow Day. (Here in MN we are having 3 in a row due to a snow storm and now extreme cold.) Let’s take a moment to remember. Remember when you were the excited kid. Don’t you have a memory of what you used to do on a snow day. There must be a reason most of us can share a memory of a snow day. It was special.

Take time today to make it special with your kids. Not just get through the day (or in this case days). But make a memory. It doesn’t have to be big, it can be a little thing. Most of the time all you need to do is get your kids started on a fun activity and then let them be.
